If you often have problems with the performance counters in your SharePoint in the log (example: “The Open Procedure for service” WmiApRpl “in DLL” C:\Windows\system32\wbem\wmiaprpl.dll “failed.”) Performance data for this service will not be available If you use another monitoring tool such as Paessler’s PRTG, it may be worthwhile disabling Performance Counters altogether. I point out that a complementary monitoring tool is essential, otherwise the performance monitor of Windows will provide you with very good basic services in monitoring supplies.

Disable all Performance Counters via Registry

To disable the Performance open the registry editor (Windows key regedit)

  • navigate to the path HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib
  • create a new  DWORD-Wert(32-Bit)-Value and anem it “Disable
  • set the value “1”

Disable Performance Counter for a specific service

The performance counters can also be disabled individually for a particular service. To do this, switch to the registry editor with regedit.

  • navigate to path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ServiceName\PerformanceDisable Performance Counters and set the value from 0 to 1
  • if the value is not available you can add the value “Disable Performance Counters” (unfortunately this does not guarantee the evaluation via the Performance Monitor); Certainly, only the services that already contain the key by default will be evaluated.

Many information collected by Performance Counters is very useful for evaluation, monitoring and problem analysis.
